I am active in ecumenical relationships through Churches Together in Huddersfield, which I currently Chair, and Interfaith relationships through my involvement in the establishment and development of South Kirklees Interfaith and Belief Forum.
The ‘third age’ I went part-time at the age of 55, allowing me to take up a number of new roles, including becoming increasingly involved in a variety of Deanery and Diocesan matters: Training for and being admitted as a Licensed Lay Minister (LLM), and subsequently becoming responsible for co-ordinating the ministry of all LLMs in the Diocese by acting as the ‘Registrar of LLMs’; Taking on the role of Lay Chair of Dorking Deanery Synod; Assisting with the management of a Foodbank being newly set-up by the ecumenical group Churches Together in Dorking; Being elected to Bishop’s Council (where I currently serve on sub-committees covering Finance, Risk Management, Safeguarding and Remuneration); Recently, becoming Vice-Chair of the Guildford Diocesan Board of Finance; and Continuing my involvement in the world of pensions (after I had formally retired from actuarial work) by becoming a member-nominated trustee of four schemes for employees of the insurance company Aviva.
Ecumenical Engagement: Drawing on my work with Churches Together in England and national- level ecumenical representation, I will continue building bridges and deepening friendships across traditions.
I had the privilege of representing the Church of England at the Methodist Conference (2024) and the Churches Together in England Residential Forum (2025); experiences that strengthened ecumenical relationships and informed my reporting to the Council for Christian Unity and General Synod.

I am Chair of Churches Together in Bexhill (overseeing the work of Bexhill Foodbank and Advice Centre) and convenor of the ecumenical clergy group.

Alongside this role, which is seasonal by its nature, I have provided part-time administrative support to Churches Together in Cumbria since August 2025.
I will bring experience from my current roles as Chair of Churches Together in Shirley and as a Trustee of the Longheath Community Centre.
I lead a local church with: · A good-sized international contingent as part of our congregation and leadership. · A toddler group which has become well known and respected in the local community and seen a good number of parents and extended family come through to faith and involvement in church life. · A ‘Family Essentials’ ministry which provides hygiene and cleaning products to local families in need regardless of their faith or allegiance. · A longstanding partnership with another town church in the local CofE primary school. · Active members of the local ecumenical Churches Together group. · Unchurched people coming to faith, being baptised and discipled and finding a place to belong. · Youth and kids’ work growing in a way that our buildings are now proving too small, a good problem to have.
In all the churches I have attended (in south-east London, Bristol, Wiltshire and Sidmouth) I have been committed to the musical ministry: building the skills and confidence of musicians from the congregation, training choristers, enabling vocal music to flourish through festival choirs, organising music for ‘churches together’ events, leading contemporary musical worship for all ages, and fostering emerging musical talent through children’s and youth bands.
As the Vice-Chair of Churches Together in Malvern, I’m excited about what can happen when the Body of Christ, with all its differences, works together to build the Kingdom of God, and I am keen to bring this experience of ecumenical collaboration to Synod.
In the county town of Oakham in Rutland I led the civic ministry of All Saints and chaired Churches Together.

As a representative on our local Churches Together, I appreciate the opportunities to learn from members of other denominations and consider that ecumenical working wherever possible enables more effective witness and mission both locally and nationally.
