Over the years, I have been blessed to serve the Church of England in various parishes and dioceses — from starting out as a Sunday School Superintendent and PCC/Standing Committee member to progressing now to working as an Authorised Lay Minister (Preaching and Worship/Liturgy) for St Mary the Virgin Church in Felpham, West Sussex.
As an ethnic minority female in my seventies, I bring a lifetime of lived experience, resilience and an instinctive ability to connect across diverse cultures, generations and church traditions For over 15 plus years I have served my Parish as church warden, safeguarding officer, PCC member, Sunday school Leader.
I was baptised as a child and became involved in Sunday School, the Boys’ Brigade and Christian Endeavour.
Whilst I had what might be described a fairly normal childhood, this did involve attending Sunday School and Youth groups.
I live in Wells and am a member of the congregation and the PCC of St Thomas’, where I used to lead the Sunday School.
I teach 3-11 year olds in Sunday school and previously helped with the youth group.
I bring 35 years of international business leadership, most recently as Vice President, Business Integration & HSSE for Shell's Renewables and Energy Solutions business, building safety, culture and integration across more than 50 companies I was the lead Sunday School teacher in Gatehouse of Fleet Parish Church in Scotland for 4 years I work as an independent consultant, advising organisations on transformation, sustainability and change management I recently stepped down as Chair of the Advisory Board of Nandina REM, a start-up building circular, lower-carbon supply chains for the aviation industry, based in Singapore I served for 3 years as President of Shell's UK Women's Network, leading its work to champion inclusion and the advancement of women across one of the world's largest energy companies, and grew its membership from fewer than 500 to more than 1,500 women and men I mentored colleagues through Shell's LGBTI Network and Black African Network I volunteer as a mentor and coach to young people, lately through Education for All in Morocco, helping secure secondary education for girls in rural areas, who until recently did not have this opportunity At St George's, Madrid, I am part of the relaunch of the church's Pastoral Care programme, building a small team to extend welcome and support to members facing illness, hardship or loneliness, including those who live far from the church I am a member of St George's Chaplaincy Council and one of the Archdeaconry Synod Representatives, where my passion is ensuring the welcome and inclusion of everyone who worships at our church in Madrid I am also working with our Chaplain to help lead our new work with young teens My faith has been a constant thread through my life, from an early age.
We chose Lugano, just over the border, when my son was 3, so that he could attend the thriving Sunday School.
Having guided my son through Sunday School in to his studies in England, I pledge to champion youth rights and support every step of their Christian journey across our diocese.
I was a choirboy at St Matthews, Criftins (near Ellesmere) and attended Sunday school at St Mary’s, Market Drayton.
From a small child I became a regular at St Peter’s as my Mother took me to church every Sunday and as soon as I was allowed was enrolled in both our Church School and the Sunday School where I stayed until the age of eleven and was confirmed.

Through attending Sunday school in the morning, Bible class in the afternoon (where I learned to recite in order the books of the bible and a verse for each letter of the alphabet) and church in the evening, along with summer holiday clubs -I came toa personal commitment of faith and was baptised aged 13 in December 1975.

I am a lifelong Christian (my late father was a Reader) and I have grown through the usual childhood roles from chorister and Sunday School member to Sunday School leader.
I did not grow up in a Christian home, though I remember school assemblies and occasional Sunday School.

I lead Sunday School lessons for our 3-11s, which brings me great joy to see our children learning more about Jesus.

Returning to Barrow, I joined St. Mark’s Church, where I have served in a number of roles, including Sunday school leader, home group leader, Parish Safeguarding Officer (since 2012), occasional preacher & PCC member (and thus Trustee).

As a youth leader for many years and having hosted Sunday school for 10 years I understand the need for and passion of our young.
I began my Christian journey in the Methodist Church, at Sunday school.
However, as a child I was baptised by the Methodist minister on a RAAF base, attended Sunday School at the local Anglican Church and eventually found Jesus Christ, who had been there all along, at a Spring Harvest holiday.
