I would like to be elected as one of our General Synod representatives for the following reasons: I am a member of multiple under-represented groups (queer, disabled, woman looking at ministry, young, working class) in the national church, due to this I have unique insights into many of the concerns of these groups and I am willing to listen and speak up in important debates.
I am queer and married to my wonderful husband.
Open Table is a network of communities which genuinely welcome, affirm, include and empower people who are: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, & Asexual (LGBTQIA)+ their families, friends & anyone who wants to belong in an accepting, loving community.
Engaging with Living in Love and Faith has not been without personal cost for me as a queer woman, but I remain committed to the life of the Church and am keen to participate in further discussions in this area.
I affirm the compatibility of Christian discipleship and queer identity and would support the full inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people in the sacramental life of the Church.
Curate across 4 Churches in Runcorn in a pioneering Curacy, after training at the Queens Foundation Youth, Children & Families Minister for 8 years prior to Ordination Lived & worked in the Diocese of Guildford, York & Norwich prior to moving to Chester Diocese for my Curacy Queer member of Clergy, and chaplain to local HIV & Pride Charity organisations.
As an openly queer priest I feel this gives me the opportunity to represent those who cannot offer their own stories and remain safe.
The previous Synod - and more recently the House of Bishops - failed spectacularly in its mission to offer ‘radical welcome’ to LGBTQIA/queer people, like me.
