I have seen how people can be transformed by the love of Christ, including those whom society has given up on, the homeless, the lonely and those addicted to drugs.
The result is that these young people easily get locked in lives of drugs and crime, with no hope & no way out.
It has given me a real insight into the challenges faced by our young people growing up on estates, at risk of poverty and violence – particularly through gangs and drugs.
I have served both as a minister and as a secondary school teacher, walking alongside young people facing drugs, difficult relationships, family struggles and deep questions about meaning, identity and their future.
Drugs, low-level crime and anger became part of my life.
My current portfolio focuses on Drugs and Alcohol, where I work to ensure that some of the city’s most vulnerable residents can access effective, compassionate support for the treatment and recovery of substance use disorder.
